Construction bad debt decreases to £337m but number of insolvencies rises

There’s good news in that the amount if bad debt within the construction industry fell significantly from the previous month.

If we remove the roughly £1.1 billion generated by ISG, there is still a reduction of 44% from October’s £600m. However, the number of companies did rise to 523, an increase of 140.

We expect this decrease to continue through December, which is traditionally quiet for both construction and insolvencies in general but this will be followed by a steady increase through at least the first half of 2025. With a potential severe uptick from Q2 onwards.
