What is the difference between an IDV and AML check?

An IDV (Identity Verification) check confirms that an individual’s identity documents are authentic, verifying they are who they claim to be. This process typically involves validating documents like passports or driving licences against trusted databases.

An AML (Anti-Money Laundering) check goes further, assessing the individual's risk related to money laundering. In addition to verifying identity, it screens for potential connections to financial crime, such as checking against politically exposed persons (PEP) and sanctions lists.
